who-ah!

“Who-ah”: a chant or battle cry, which means “do everything to win except say no or fail!” The incredible army that is the “HPC” team packed some 100+ boxes of food to be distributed to those in need in our local community! It is very inspiring to see the church being the church in more ways than one. This team has great heart and commitment…Thank you to everyone who made it out! You guys rock…Who-AH!

He was called many things. Prophet. Teacher. Blasphemer. Friend of sinners. Son of Man. Son of David. Son of God. He said He was God. Some would believe he was a liar, others a lunatic, but we know he is the Lord of all! Its going to be a great day and I am expecting that God will show favor on you as we celebrate together. easter sunday, april 12…after the worship experience we will have food and a bean bag tournament with some cool prizes for the winners…Its gonna be a blast!

Pixelate…Graffiti

PIXEL-ATE
Big Burdens…Small Areas, “Graffiti”
Pastor Dan Myer

• I love to read…A recent book I have been rereading is called The Tipping point…
It researches Social epidemics…in fashion, cultural, criminal…
And one amazing account is an incredible epidemic that took place in NYC…

• The overwhelming “decline of crime” in NYC in the early 90’s
They traced the turn around to a few small key areas…

• 1) Caught, the guys who jumped turn-styles… 2) Fixed, all the broken windows…
3) Cleaned the graffiti off the walls…Spent tax dollars cleaning the subway cars

• Over a period of several yrs in NYC the graffiti was everywhere…so they began by cleaning it off the walls…

• And a wonderful epidemic ensued…things began to turn around in a major decline of crime! It is really quite an amazing thing…Crime is rampant and they attacked the burden by cleaning graffiti and repairing windows!

• But this principle is actually from the bible… Continue reading

bed time stories…

As is customary at the Myer house, I read my boy and my girls a book of their choice before they go to bed. The other evening my oldest daughter made her final choice of books…yes books plural. She always stretches the limits. we made it through them in fairly normal stride with some colorful and enlightening commentary from her…always enjoyable! Then she asked me to tell her an extra story from the bible. I began to tell her the story of the three hebrew boys who would not worship the kings statue and as result were thrown into the fiery furnace and how God got in the fire with them, protecting their lives and revealig his grace and mercy to them because they would not bow! It was such a great time with her,but the thing that I found to be the most inspiring was her play by play insight into the powerful lessons in this story…first she said with great conviction, “we only worship one God, nothing else!” I said thats right sweety. Then she continued, that was an old story it didn’t happen today…God put it there so we could believe him for our own stories. I told her that this was called “faith” and that faith is believeing in things you can’t always see. She said. “like the stars…during the daytime you can’t see them but they are all still there!” It is such a beautiful thing to see my little girl hiding the word of God in her heart. I love to hear her express her faith with such strong conviction and passion…It’s a beautiful thing!

…thoughts on hangin' @ the gym on Sundays!

I have been thinking over the past few months about our recent move to a really cool facility that houses our sunday worship gathering…Edwards fitness center. This is such a positive thing for a church plant, for 1) we are placed right in the middle of a very large flow of traffic…”aka” the market place / fitness center ministry. The parking lot is always filled to capacity…not sure why we are considered an overweight society when everyone is working out all the time…but thats a different thought for another time…movin’ on 2) we have consistently made great new contacts every week. This past week a lady happened to hear the worship coming from the meeting area and came in…she stayed for the entire time and even turned her life to Jesus! I love this so much! Also, 3) It keeps our incredible team moving! HPC as a very young “plant” has an amazing group of passionate people that love to serve…I know the pros and cons to set up and break down…I know it would be much easier just to have your own building and maybe someday I’m sure we will have one too, but I think that the ministry opportunity that is wired into the whole set up and break down is very inspiring and fullfilling in a cool sort of way. I really love this team because they have big heart, spirit and excellence! 4) finally it gives us the chance to interact with a whole group of professional people that would be limited from consistent regular connection…but we get to connect, just because again we cross paths weekly. The gym adminstartion has really become very open and assisting in HPC’s needs and we have made some friendships with several of their management staff. I am so thankful for this chance to hang out in the gym on sundays and have great worship to our awesome God while doing some great ministry!

"Algorithm" recap…

Started a new series called “pixelate” Sundays installment was absolutely wonderful…thank you God. We had so many respond to Jesus and the moving of his presence was somewhat overwhelming at times. I love this kind of atmosphere…I have recieved many un-prompted e-mails of kind thanks for speaking on this subject and how the message impacted them. I can not take credit for this…I am just sharing with you things that God has shared with me. I’ll slide the actual message in above…needless to say the message is about making the small turns and getting into the right rythym with a God who owns all the answer and creates the Big Change we all need…Love ya, Blessings!
